During October 1st threw 13th of 1903 the very first world series took place. The competing teams were the pennant winning Pittsburgh Pirates of the National League. And the champions of the three year old American League Boston Red Sox.
Boston ended up winning the 1903 World Series championship title with five over three wins out of a total of what was supposed to last nine games. This gave respect and bragging rights to the new league.
