Sitting Bull's Death:

The End of the Messiah craze

Sitting Bull, who had been in search of the Messiah all his life, was beginning to worry the U.S. officials.  He was beginning start a revolt, in which the Indians would either slaughter us of we would slaughter them.  With nothing to lose but life, Sitting Bull began to practice the Ghost Dance, hoping that the Messiah would come and free them from the white man's reign.  With the officials finally sick of all the hope that these dances gave the Indians, the tribal police were sent to arrest Sitting Bull.  In an attempt to get away, he, his adopted brother and his son were all killed by tribal policemen.  He died honorably and was respected by all tribes that he inspired, especially the Sioux, Cheyenne and Arapho, who he fought next to in battle.
