Many of the nation's
greatest Native American tribes, such as the Sioux
and their leader Sitting
Bull, made a living on the Great Plains. The Great Plains of
the United States are located between the Rocky mountains and the Ozarks
of the Southeast. The Plains stretch from the Canadien province of
Manitoba to Texas. They are bordered by the Canadien
Shield and the Central Lowlands of the U.S to the East and the Rockies
to the West.
The Great Plains produce tons
a grain, lots of livestock and millions of gallons of petroleum a year.
The coal deposits are also very abundant around Texas and northern Mexico.
Some animals that are found on the Great Plains are cobras
and bison. The
Great Plains also run through the "4 Corner" states, such as New
Mexico and Arizona.
