Thomas Edison lived in Milan, Ohio until the age of 7. On his seventh birthday he had received a new pair of ice skates. While skating he fell through thin ice and his older friend jumped to the rescue and grabbed a rope to pull him out. He was called Al as a child. His mother and father were Sam and Nancy Edison. He as born on February 11, 1847. Tomas was often sick and had many ear infections that kept him from school. He became deaf in one ear and had a hard time hearing the rest of his life.
