The Chipawyan hunted the caribou. Some of the vegetables the Chipawyan ate came from the half digest food in the stomachs of the caribou. When they would roast the caribou whole then proceed to eat it. They are part of the Athabaskan group which are Woodland Indians. The Chipawyans belived that they owed their exhistance to the dog. They believed that long ago before men, there was a lady sitting along. A dog sat next to her and began to change form and turned into a man. Then nine months later, the first Chipawyan was born.
