Salmon: In some tribes salmon were considered immortal. They thought this because they would fight strong rapids and die by the tousands. A fisherman could get enough salmon in a few nets to last his family close to a year. There are no salmon in the extreme northern protion of Canada. One legand said that the salmon people spent the winters under the sea then in the spring they would turn into salmon and swim up river for body comsuption. Then their souls would be put back into the ocean.
