Weaving: Women on the Northwest coast of the U.S. used cedar bark to make blankets and clothing. They would soften it by pounding it and then cutting it into small strips. Split cedar root became a raw material because of it's great use for the weaving of baskets. It was so tight that the baskets could hold water and they were also used for raincoats. Navajo blanket weaving is one of the highest expressions of the Native Americans of the Southwest.
